This last week has been crazy. A few weeks ago, L had her pre-quarter meetings and orientations with the new kids and the professors. Her department chair had mentioned at that time that she and a neighbor had recently rescued a litter of feral kittens and that if any of the grad students want to adopt one, she would cover start-up expenses like vaccinations, spay/neuter, etc. We had decided that we wanted to wait a few years before getting a second cat, so this wasn't super relevant for us.
Then, last weekend, this department chair emails L with a picture of one of the kittens that she happens to be kitten sitting for the weekend. So L and talked about it, and we decided to go meet them. There was one in particular that L was enamored with (the one from the picture we were sent) because it purred nice and loudly for her.
So we debated it out, consulted with parents, and finally decided that this would be an ok time to adopt a second cat. After all, Mal had so much fun this summer at my parents' house playing with their cat.
It's now been a week since we met this kitten for the first time, and we've had her at home for a couple of days. This is Kaylee:
She's little still, about 8-12 weeks old and just over 2lbs. We're well on our way to collecting the entire crew of Serenity. :) Not really. As I told othergoose the other day, more than two kitties might be a little too crazy lesbian cat lady….
